Arabesque

I have quite a long-standing obsession with twirly curly tendrils. I'm not sure what it is about these shapes that always makes me feel a little tingle of delight. Could it be that they remind me of the childish pleasure of spinning?

I'd intended to do this one yesterday, but my schedule is spinning out of control these days, so I may be a bit erratic in my oddment posts for a little while.

  1. It is so - how should I say it- so twirlish, so curlish and so tendrilish ! :D

It makes me a bit tinglish and also a bit delight-ish!!

(do not spin too much and it is good to be (sometimes) erratic)

    :)

  2. Another super cute guy. Terrific colors, especially the background. Twirly curly for the win!

By the way, do you hand draw stuff first, or use a tablet? Or straight to Photoshop? (I doubt I'll be venturing into digital artwork anytime soon, mainly just curious!)

  4. Is it just me, or is there a "G' in there?
Stunning work! Loving the colors and the tendrils!

  5. Well, this one makes me think of spring in all it's greenness and the twirly curly tendrils reaching out through the air to make contact in order to move oneself along, up and out to experience and explore life.

  6. Oh, thank you, everyone! I'm glad my Springy, twirl-giddy mood came through!

Cindy, I usually start with a sketchbook doodle in pencil or pen & ink, because I love drawing on paper, & ideas come to me best that way. When I work digitally I sometimes scan the sketch, especially if it's complicated, but often I just redraw it by eye to keep things fresh. And I do all the final PS work on a tablet, a Wacom Intuos 4 to be precise.

Glo, by gum, there definitely *is* a "G" in there! To be honest, I didn't do it on purpose, but I did plant the G-seed in the back of my mind as promised, & there it grew!! Drawing is so much like dreaming. :-)
